When nearly the whole village is on the membership list, it's important to keep the club's operations in order, and when the sports club took the step up to electronic membership management, Rubic was an obvious choice for Ole-Petter Brendstuen and the rest of Kvam IL.
– We became a kind of pilot, partly because the software was developed here in the village. That was only after looking at several other options, but none of them had exactly what we wanted. We had a long list of our needs, and we've got exactly what we need, says Brendstuen.
A generational shift
Today all membership management, kiosk staffing and text message communication with members goes through the Rubic system, and before long it will also be used for the Furusjøen Rundt triple. But even though everything can be done automatically, there are some things you simply don't change.
– Before Rubic, we went door to door collecting membership fees. The village was divided into 20 districts, and we collected the fees in cash. If someone wasn't home, they got an invoice in their letterbox. Many people have got used to that and still want us to come by, the club chairman chuckles. Rubic therefore supports old-fashioned paper invoices with KID payment for those who need them.
A strong community of associations
Brendstuen believes the size of the village has a lot to do with the sports club's success.
– We have a strong community of clubs and associations, and everyone wants to take part. Not least, we have many passive members who want to support us because the activities are important for the village. Nobody objected when the minimum membership fee was raised. We cleaned up our membership lists and were left with just over 600 actual paying members, which is quite a large share of the village.
