This is a major milestone for Rubic. We already have Norsk Selskap for Fotografi, but this is the first national federation in sport. We will tailor a system to the federation's extensive needs. Even so, they are not that different from other national federations, especially not on the technical side. We therefore see that this can easily be transferred to other large umbrella organisations as well, says a very pleased Rune Solholm Bakken, who originally started Rubic.

Five reasons to choose the Rubic membership system
Everything in the cloud
In autumn 2019, Norges Idrettsforbund set new requirements for Norges Skytterforbund's administration system, as everything was to be moved to cloud-based services. This meant they had to look for a new system.
Rubic is helping to develop a system that will make an entire federation work, as well as handle all the competitions, registration, results service, rankings, comparisons between members, historical overviews and much more. It will also open up many new opportunities. The aim is to give our clubs a good offering that makes everyday life easier for them and for our sport, and to improve and make better use of the potential than we can with today's system, explains Dag Olav Rønning, administrative officer at NSF.
We are very happy with both the progress and the contact Rubic has with us in the project. They follow the plans that have been set, and I am confident that we will get a good product and that it will be ready on time. Communication is optimal on both sides. With the new system up and running, I think we will achieve good results, get more accurate information and improve data quality. All of this has a positive effect on both the clubs and the federation – and gives more time for the sport itself, continues Kenneth Eikenes, head of the facilities committee, responsible for support systems for the sport.

An ambitious project
The old system will be shut down at the turn of the year, and everything must be ready before then. It is an extensive job with little time.
First and foremost, it is a great recognition of what we do that we have now gained a large national federation and 35,000 new members in our system. It gives us the opportunity to grow in uncertain times, and we recently hired two new people to have capacity for everything that needs to be done. The development process we are now going through with NSF is giving us a lot of new expertise, which in turn enables us to handle more national federations, continues Anders Retterås, General Manager of Rubic, who is confident that they will finish everything well ahead of the deadline.
Working closely with the customer
Rubic has worked with Abaris Consulting since the start.
They developed the first version of what would become Rubic Medlem in 2014.
The parties have also worked closely together on this project.
This is an important project for us, and a big one. This is exactly the kind of work we enjoy. We previously did a similar job for Norsk Selskap for Fotografi. We took the experience we gained there with us into this project and developed new structures that support sport's parallel organisational structure in terms of club, member and federation, regional association and discipline. At the same time, we have a good and close collaboration with Rubic at the core, where we work together as one team, which benefits the customer, explains Lars Tungen, General Manager of Abaris.
They are taking Rubic's membership system as the starting point and building extensions that will handle all the annual competitions, registration, results service and much more. A system adapted to the shooting federation's regulations and use.
A critical success factor is working closely with the customer, which makes us agile: we can turn around quickly, change priorities where needed and focus the work on critical challenges. It also means better use of the budget. The shooting federation is very skilled and professional, and perhaps the best customer we could have had on this project. They have a lot of expertise, which makes communication easy, adds Tungen, before Rønning concludes:
Communication has been very good from the very beginning; that was one of the reasons we chose them. Rubic understood our needs and presented a plan that covered what we asked for. It was a big advantage that they knew the sport and had good knowledge of what the sport needs. We felt they spoke the same language as us.
Rubic with approved NIF integration
A system adapted to the needs of the federation and its users will make the organisation more efficient, while saving both money and time – and thus freeing up more time for activity.
