What does modern club management look like in practice? This week we travelled to Vestfold to visit two of our customers – Flint Tønsberg Fotball and Sandar IL. Two large, active sports clubs, each with its own history in Rubic, but with one thing in common: they are ready for the new season, and they use Rubic as the digital hub of their club management.
We are often asked what modern club management actually looks like. A visit to Flint and Sandar gives a clear answer: it is about having an overview, giving coaches and volunteers good tools, and freeing up time for what matters – the sport and the people. Here are their stories.
Flint Tønsberg Fotball – confident in the system, ready for more

Flint Tønsberg Fotball has been a Rubic customer for several years, and it shows. This is a club that knows the system well, has well-organised routines for member management and administration, and actively uses large parts of Rubic’s module package in its day-to-day work. This is exactly what modern club management looks like when it works well in practice.
In our conversation it quickly became clear that the invoicing solution is a tool that really makes everyday life easier. With many members and ongoing activity, it is essential to have full control over finances, payments and outstanding amounts – and that is exactly what the club gets through Rubic.
It was also clear that Rubic Connect has found its natural place out on the teams. Coaches and team managers actively use the app for activity administration and communication – whether it is training registrations, messages to players or coordinating match days. The app brings the teams closer together and makes the job easier for the volunteers who keep the wheels turning – and not least for the club as a whole.
Flint is a mature Rubic user, and it is inspiring to see a club that has made the system part of the core of its operations. The club is now in full swing planning tournaments played over three weekends in May, with strong international participation. You can find out more about Flint at Flint Tønsberg Fotball.
Sandar IL – full speed from the start

Sandar IL started using Rubic in 2025 and has rolled it out across the whole organisation. They are already using most of Rubic’s modules – a sign of a club with a clear direction and the will to make full use of the system.
Sandar IL organises two large tournaments, including Sandarcupen, and here they have started using Rubic Organizer to organise volunteers. As the organiser of large tournaments, the club has a great need for good administration and volunteer management – and this is where Organizer delivers. With all the logistics gathered in one place, it becomes considerably easier to run good events year after year.
Sandar IL is a club we greatly value as a partner. They are proactive, ask good questions and actively contribute input and feedback that help us develop Rubic further. That kind of collaboration is worth its weight in gold. Read more about the club at Sandar IL.
“We want to stay ahead of the curve, which is why we are keen to give active input on how the tools can be developed further. For us, Rubic is not just a system, but a digital partner that helps us simplify everyday life for both the administration and all our members.
— Atle Svanåsbakken, membership manager at Sandar Idrettslag
Modern club management in practice: what Flint and Sandar teach us
Two clubs, two different starting points – and a clear pattern. When clubs succeed with digital tools, it is rarely about the technology alone. It is about the system being used broadly, volunteers getting tools that actually help, and the administration getting time back for what matters most. That is how modern club management differs from the old way.
- Finances under control. Invoicing, payments and outstanding amounts gathered in one place.
- Coaches and team managers in the same app. Fewer emails and scattered threads, more Rubic Connect.
- Volunteering without Excel chaos. Rubic Organizer handles shift schedules and logistics for tournaments and events.
- A partner, not just a supplier. The clubs give us input – we develop Rubic further based on real-world practice.
Ready for a new season with modern club management
Both clubs are now facing a new season, and Rubic is a central tool in the preparations – not just for the administrators, but for the whole club. Members log in, team managers plan, and those responsible for finances have the overview they need.
This is exactly what Rubic is built for: making everyday sports life easier, so that clubs can spend more time on what really matters – the sport and the people.
We look forward to following both Flint Tønsberg Fotball and Sandar IL through the season ahead.
