A pitch allocator's dream tool

A pitch allocator's dream tool

One team and one pitch would have made the job of allocating pitches very easy. But as we know, there are usually many teams that have to share a certain number of pitches.

As a general manager or pitch allocator, you know how frustrating it can be to keep track of this in Excel. In Rubic LagetMitt, the pitch allocation feature is a loyal assistant you can rely on.

Åse Marita Høitomt is general manager of LFKF, Lillehammer Kvinnefotbalklubb. She also helps with pitch allocation there. The club has 400 members, from 8-year-old girls up to seniors. That makes 30 teams. The club splits its pitch allocation in two. For the teams up to age 12, they use Rubic's tool. The dream is to be able to use Rubic for all 30 teams.

– It is so easy to work with Rubic, says Åse Marita Høitomt. Importing matches from NFF's system is very straightforward. It only takes a few minutes. There are two of us working as pitch allocators. We work on a PC and have a complete overview of all matches. Parents and players who follow one or more teams on LagetMitt see what applies to them in the app on their phone.

Push notifications on changes

Picture this: the G12 and J12 league matches in June have to be adjusted to fit the players' end-of-school celebrations. Matches scheduled every Thursday have to be moved to Monday. In the “old days”, the pitch allocator had to go into the pitch map in Excel and make the changes. Coaches and team managers had to keep an eye out for any changes, and then they had to contact everyone involved and let them know. Nowadays, with Rubic LagetMitt, the job is much easier.

– If matches have to be moved, we go into the overview and see where there is a free pitch, says Åse Marita Høitomt. Then the change has to be communicated to everyone affected. Previously, the team manager or coach had to call, text or email everyone, but with Rubic this is much easier. Parents either have to go into LagetMitt and check for themselves whether there is anything new, and many do this as a routine, or they can choose to receive push notifications when something changes. This is a choice they make themselves. Pitch allocation is a big puzzle, but with Rubic it is a puzzle that always works out, says Høitomt.
